The consumer line has been updated to v. 7.00.04.15. I can't find any info on what's been added/fixed. http://www.avira.com/

    I think that's a typo.
Mine says it's 7.04.00.15, dated the 26th April.

That's the free Classic Download, don't know if the Premium was changed, but there were some users reporting update issues, some related to 'custom install' and some could only use Manual Update (which never does any Program Updates).

Never saw the problem on my systems, so online update does program update as well for me, but if you couldn't get an 'online' update...

    Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium
If your normal Online Update is functional, you should already be up-to-date, but if you wanted a "clean-install" this would be it.

    Re: AntiVir Program Updates

Mine updates every hour. I have what I posted which is from April 27. It is NOT new. I have the Luke Filewalker version you mention but I got that on April 27. So, again I ask what is this "new" version from May 14?

    Re: AntiVir Program Updates

No idea what would be inside that download, if I wanted to know, I would download and unpack it inside a folder. the 7.00.04.15 is for the Program and the same file number for your LukeFileWalker is pure coincidence.
Look on the Avira Forum and you will see that they were trying to fix a problem related to install paths over 49 characters.

AVIRA's 'Quick-Fix' was to deny install to 49+ character Default install paths (like Windows Spanish Version {C:\Archivos de programa\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic} and force a non-recommended 'custom path').

I am at a loss for anything nice to say about this development.

    See this AVIRA Thread.

Oh, good lord. I read the Avira forum every day but not always the Classic section. I missed that thread completely. It appears the Avira support techs don't even grasp the problem for Spanish (and maybe other language users) deliberately created by the new version. :(

I still have the version from April 27 so I'm puzzled about that also.

edit: I hadn't been to the Avira forum in about 24 hours. Just went there and saw a bunch of new (last 24 hours) posts in the Premium forum about this. What a mess! The replies from Avira are terse and unhelpful too.
