Can anyone confirm that there is no more notifier appearing?

I have installed today on two systems and there was no notify screen, after various updates and restarts.

    Regards

Well, based on the above posts -- I downloaded Antivir again just to see - sorry to say -- It Ain't So fellas!
At least the program that I just got from the main Antivir site:
    [see my attachment?]

    Those are the Notify files

Now if you two did not get those files -- where did you get your program from?

Just because the 'avnotify.*' files are there doesn't mean you'll get the popup. AntiVir can still execute avnotify.exe and it might connect out on port 80 and check for something but then find nothing to display or instructions to not display or whatever. I think those files have always been there, it's just up to the AntiVir people whether they're used to display ads or not.

I remember now that sometime a large message screen asked if I want to hide information screen and ofcourse I pressed "yes", or something like that.
It was the first time that it was updating.
Maybe that's explaining the notifier files still exist but not appearing.

    Regards

AntiVir has been loading a 1.5MB update to build 138 for past 24 hours and looks like they have eight servers on the 'free' site now.

Been at least a week since I have seen the 'click-off' notice about ZA Blocking 'AvNotify' which is better than the former three times a day.

Once again, for anyone who IS getting the popup ads... If you're running an NTFS file system, just right click on 'avnotify.exe' and look at Properties. Then under the Security tab click Advanced. Then Edit each user's rights to Deny execution. That will stop 'avnotify.exe' from executing and the popups are gone once and for all. This works fine here on Win2k. I imagine XP also.

There's no saying they won't start it up again in the future. I remember back in the version 6 days, periodically I would get ads, then for a while it would stop, then months later start up again when they wanted to promote something. So just in case, it's nice to know you can do something about it if and when it does happen..
