Which is the best one. I have 3 on my computer but really don't know what I am looking at when I run them. None of the 3 have a help file. I have gmer, Icesword and Rootkit Unhooker. I just see if anything shows up that I don't recognize. How about some guidelines.

I have seen reports that the free rootkit scanners from AVG and Avira are very good as well as the ones you mentioned. F-secure's Blacklight has some good reviews as well.

i think you have 3 of the best, but i believe Rootkit Unhooker is no longer under
development, as they were hired by Microsoft a few months ago....

I think that gmer is the only one still being developed. Will it indicate when something is found?

Nah M$ bought sources for 4.1 vx and Unreal series rootkits(POC's) from EP.

EP is still deving RKU but no longer available for public use.

GMER is only one that seems to have updated recently:thumb:
