I've seen it come up in another thread I started but this really deserves it's own thread, I think.

As far as the Prevx settings being all online at MyPrevx, I feel many basic users would be intimidated and turned off by the idea of having to log on to that to change a program setting that is on their computer. It might seem unintuitive or strange to them, ESPECIALLY considering many basic home users come from the traditional AV world.

However, with that being said, I personally love the idea of having online settings management since the program is largely based on the Internet cloud. Therefore, how's about making a setting synchronization system so they can be edited remotely as well as on the system it's installed on?

Here's a few ideas on the implementation:

    - When one installs Prevx, after the learning scan completes, a simple dialogue comes up that prompts the user to create a MyPrevx account and either highly recommends it or forces it. Haven't decided on that yet. The prompt box will guide the user through simple steps of creating a user name and password and then explaining what it will do for them. Once it is created (or if one already exists) the user logs on and then Prevx is linked with their MyPrevx account, sort of like logging into Steam.

    - Instead of having a password stored locally in the basic confg, the user can opt to have their MyPrevx user name and password be the settings protection password locally as well. I see no problem with this as MyPrevx is encrypted to standards and is secure. It will also allow for users to set up a global settings protection password (if they so chose) to protect Prevx installations across several computers, for example, the PC guy in the family controls it, and the rest of the family members who are PC illiterate don't know the password so they can't change the settings.

    - I've seen many applications use a "web tab" which uses Internet Explorer in windows to browse a specific relevant web page. Why not create a "web tab" in Prevx that is used solely for contacting tech support, perhaps accessing these forums, and most importantly, direct access to MyPrevx? That would be an awesome feature. This way, there is a direct correlation to Prevx settings and MyPrevx without having to have a user remember another URL to manually type in. They just click it on the left right under Settings/Tools/License/MyPrevx. Again, just thinking out loud here, I know that implementing some / a lot of this would probably require some major re-designing.

    - MyPrevx Community - a simple profile page with a picture of you and status alerts when you download something that isn't a community entry yet and the heuristics catches it, and it tells all your Prevx Community friends that you took a hit for the team and they are now instantly protected from that network nasty!

Ok, the above one is just a joke. : = P hahaha, a social network about antiviruis. lol

My apologies sir, I probably should have looked into that first.

I was under the impression that that thread was about actual confirmed upcoming changes to Prevx, rather than user input. My mistake.

    Thanks.
