Another installation is already in progress

    Good Morning,

    Trying to install V11 and I get a message saying ;

    "Another installation is already in progress" which is not the case.

    I originally had V10 installed but suddenly it stopped finding my drives so I have tried upgrading to V11.

    I uninstalled V10 but seems the uninstall does not completely remove it. So I followed a set of instruction about removonh keys etc provided by Acronis some time ago.

    The V11 install originally stopped saying it was "interrupted" (there was nothing running to interrupt it) and now I get the above mentioned message and have no way of resolving this.

    So I have no V10 or V11 running and stuck in limbo.

    Pretty much frustrated and annoyed with these Acronis products !

    Would appreciate any feedback.

    You can go into the registry and look for

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
    and under it look for the key

    or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager


    If it has a value, then just to be safe, try rebooting one more time, and if that doesn't solve is still there, then delete that key and reboot.

    Sometimes installations and updates don't clear this key -- it's used to by installers to perform file renames upon boot up - you know, that stuff instllers can't do while Windows is already up and running.
