There is no reason for these bugs/features to be in Disk Director in the first place, but in any case, they are extremely annoying.

I have four disk drives in my system. One and only one of those disks has two bad sectors.

    Bug One:

When I load up Disk Director 10, it always complains about these two bad sectors, even though they're not even mapped into the partition they're in and even though the partition they're in is "hiddden"!

Not only that, when it makes that complaint in DD10 Full Suite, whether I press "ignore all" or "cancel", it takes tens of minutes to continue, or in some cases, it *never* continues at all! If I load DD10 "Fast" (or whatever it's called) instead, I get the same error message, but at least it eventually lets me continue anyway.

    Bug Two-A:

The following seems to be true for both versions of DD10: I merely tried to change the label of a partition on the disk with the two bad sectors, but when I pressed "commit", it took at least ten minutes to perform that ludicrously simple action, if it even ever completed at all!

    Bug Two-B:

The following also seems to be true for both versions of DD10: I merely tried to change the label of a DIFFERENT partition on an entirely DIFFERENT disk, but when I pressed "commit", it took at least ten minutes to perform that ludicrously simple action, if it even ever completed at all!

These are simply inexcusable bugs, as I'm sure you'll all agree.

To me, these sound more like hardware compatiblity problems than bugs.

Can you provided a little more information?

Is the disk with the bad sectors IDE or SATA?
If IDE, do you know what the connection speed is (UDMA 5, UDMA 6, etc.)?

What are the other three drives (IDE or SATA)?

Are you using the latest build of DD (2,160)?

If you also have TI, does it exhibit any delays when scanning the drives when the program starts (in any mode, Windows, TI Full, TI Safe)?

    Bug One:
Does it give the errors in Windows as well as the Full and Safe Mode versions?
Can you post a screenshot of the sector error message?
If the drive with the bad sectors is disconnected, does DD operation without errors or delays?

    Bug Two:
Does changing a partition label with DD in Windows cause the same delay?
Does changing a partition label with My Computer or Disk Management cause any delay?
Do you get the delay when the disk with the bad sectors is disconnected?

You might also want to consider downloading the disk diagnostic software provided by the disk manufacturer and running it on the drive. It may not be operating correctly.

If you know the motherboard brand, model and chipset, it might help to post that too.
