Can a person download and install Base without installing the entire OpenOffice package, thank you.

What are your needs here? If your need is to have a db for website content management, you can definitely go with MySQL (much more powerful -- and also complex -- than Access, more akin to SQL Server).

    Hi Acadia,

You need to download the whole OpenOffice package, but you can select to install just the Base database. It is a very good alternative to Access.
The only things it would have problems with is if you have very custom DB applications that use VBA macros and such. Base has macros but they are different from Access macros. I hear the Novell SLED10 (Linux) version of OpenOffice handles VBA macros very well.
