    Cool nice to hear of alternatives, before this I was playing around a little with StartPage...

    I swear, will anything ever replace Google? LOL...

    It's not that alternative, it tried to flog me a toolbar & make blekko my default search engine!

    Plus I can't use WOT with it.

    I give it a fortnight ...

    You went to it and it tried to install a toolbar just surfing to it?

    What is WOT and fortnight?

    This isn't the UK Daveski17 hehe...

    Yeah, a dropdown asked me if I wanted to install a toolbar!

    WOT

    A 'fortnight' is two weeks. It is quite common to refer to two weeks in England as a fortnight. It is derived from the Old English fēowertyne niht, meaning fourteen nights. This is a reference to the old lunar calendar. Where I come from in England you can still hear people pronounce the number 'four' as 'feower' with two syllables.

    Ok, so you said you give it a fortnight, meaning what, you gave it 14 days trial and dumped it?

    Or your fortnight is like your rating?

    Hmm that's not looking so hot...

    I got the answer for everyone, we all use a nice anonymous vpn service and still use Google... ;)

    By give it a fortnight, Professor 'enry 'iggins was implying that we won't hear much of it after a while.

    Whatever happened to the original meaning of the word 'alternative' (non-traditional)? This is big fat corporate money-making mainstream!

    We got a lot of money in the bank [$24 million to be exact] so we’re not going anywhere and Techcrunch is impressed with at least some features.

    "Fortnight" is 2 weeks -- a common expression even in the USofA. "Blekko" is the technical name for camel dung. Don't step in it.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But seriously -- Blekko is an okay search engine. Acid Test: It found my websites quickly, & with a fairly decent position. Give Blekko a while to shake down -- at least 6 lunar cycles would be my suggestion.
    P.S.- My favorite search-engine remains DuckDuckGo -- because I like their logo.
    Why do Americans keep asking me what it means then?
    I dunno about the moon bikes but I may have underrated it as a search engine. I only feel safe if I can use WOT though.
    We'll have to agree to differ on that logo LOL! ;)
    I really need an alternative google because I cannot stomach GOOGLE INSTANT... and yes, I've turned it off 20 times at least, but I'm sick of it not staying off or having to BING for various tweaks to disable it permanently in various browsers... just need another engine now... I hope this camel dung machine can deliver.
    Hmmmm... I'm seriously thinking of using Bing or Ask Jeeves more often. I am starting to find quite a few things about Google annoying.
