I am currently using PurgeIE to check for stray files etc.

Every time I run the stray file check, I get loads of entries for ADSERVER. ADTECH with a number in brackets following. They are marked as strays found in my temp. int. files folders. These seem to appear every time I run the program even if I removed them the day before.

Is this a known problem. Do they come from a known site or something and what is making them stray files. Is something happening in my browser that is removing the url they point to and leaving the stray in the index.dat file.

I would love to know where these strays keep coming from all the time.

I have Spywareblaster and Spybot installed so are they doing something that could relate to this situation.

    I found it. :)

These strays are coming from a website that my son visits... it's a football website here in the UK and I have it blocked for cookies except for the one he uses to logon. So by doing a bit of checking... I clicked open the security report on the blocked cookies icon, and there they were... about 5 or 6 cookies from the Adserver site all being blocked by IE6 cookie filter... wow... nice one.

So it looks like I'm getting the url's listed in the temp. int. files but the cookies are being blocked and therefore creating these strays.

Very nice to know how all these things co-relate and a lot happier now I have found them.
