I am using Windows XP and when I turned on my computer an error message informed me-"adminstrator has prohibited access to usb/1394 mass storage devices" a second message informed me -"adminstrator has prohibited access to cd/dvd devices". Windows explorer shows the devices beside a red circle with a diagonal line thru it. I can not access my dvd, or external storage devices. I ran AVG Antivirus and removed all threats but device manager has all the devices enabled and they are still restricted. GP EDIT does not have a hardware option only software one. There has to be a place to go to remove the restrictions the adminstrator has placed.

Do you have the right to remove the restrictions placed?

There is. Are you the admin? If so, UN-place it.

Yes, I am the owner and adminstrator. I did not do anything, the messages appeared out of the blue. I scanned and removed virus threats. I need to know where to go and what to do to remove the restrictions.
