Clicking Quit I get the final window.

Of course I want to update the diskinfotables (database of ADinf32).

So in the following menu I click Update.

Well, that's it for the moment.

Of course, as with any advanced scanner, you can choose your own way to handle things.

This was only meant to give you an impression about what ADinf32 can do for you.

It really is a powerful program.

I might not have shown you all my own settings, but I hope that I was able to give you some ideas about it.

    Enjoy it !!!

    Cheers, Jan.

    Questions - About: ADinf32 and Adinf32 Pro:

    1) Will they detect both the Addition and Deletion of "Folders/Subdirectories" added, since the last scan check?

    2) Does it work on Win XP PC's ?

    3) Under Win98, does it have its own scheduler for scheduling scans or does it use the Win98 task scheduler?

    4) Do the scans run in the background with effecting performance on the PC too much?

    5) Is there an option to scan upon boot-up of windows?

    6) Does it have a command-line interface?

    7) Does it do MD5 and SHA ?

 Does it create a backup of files to use for an optional restore of a changed file, when a changed file is detected?

    Hi JBB,

    Yes.
But there are some differences with respect to "Disk Access Methods".
See my reply # 10 where I quote the Help-file about those differences.

ADinf32 has its own scheduler: ADinf32 Scheduler.
    I myself run ADinf32 manually.
But for example you can let it run at every first boot on a new day.

Two screenshots taken from the Help-file will folow.

First screenshot is about start-up settings.

OK, I return to your questions:

I'm not quite sure about this because I myself run ADinf32 manually after having closed all programs and done a quick scandisk and defrag.
But that's of course my own decision.
Sorry that I could not answer you more than that.
Maybe later I'll run it while all usual programs are enabled.

Yes, see previous answer and screenshot from the Help-file.

Really sorry, at the moment I don't know the answer.
    Maybe later.

    No.
    See my reply # 9.
It shows you the available HASH Algorithms.
The difference between ADinf32 and ADinf32 Pro is that in the Pro version you can use the LAN64 algorithm.

    No.
For backups you need another program.

Seems like you are allowed program updates for 1 year... Their support has told me that licensed users are eligible for 30% discount for renewals.

    Correct

Thanks a lot for that info !!! :D

About a year ago there was a new version published.
    Technodrome posted about it.
I decided to buy it (I had bought my existing version at that time more than a year before).
I payed for the Pro version EUR 21.54
I cannot remember whether I was offered such a 30% discount.

I would love to know (just in case there will be a new version any time in the future) how to get such a discount.

I would also love to know how to get in contact with their support, if needed.
Three years ago I had contact with Dmitry Mostovoy, but that email-address doesn't seem to work anymore.
I've got emails from domains :
    adinf.com
    dials.ru
    antivir.ru
another one but maybe that was a private one
And I've got email in Russian; alas I cannot read it.

    Thanks again NAMOR !!!

    Cheers, Jan.

    Hi Paul :D

Alas I have received several emails telling me that that addy for Dmitry is an unknown user account.
And from Vitaly I've got once an email from a complete different domain (that was the one I thought to be maybe a private one).

    Cheers, Jan.

I do have to say that their support is quite responsive (so far). I sent them an email last night and found a reply this morning.

    Hi Paul,

    The last time ( 22 Jun 2004 ) I got this:
    =====
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
    <Dmitry.Mostovoy@ADinf.com>
(reason: 550 Dmitry.Mostovoy@ADinf.com unknown user account)
    =====

    But I'll try again ;)

    Thanks Paul and NAMOR !
    Cheers, Jan.

    EDIT :

O dear, I guess that I see now perhaps the problem :)

Look at your address for Dmitry:
    Dmitry_Mostovoy@ADinf.com
    Now look at mine:
    Dmitry.Mostovoy@ADinf.com

    See the difference:
yours has an _ and mine has an .
LOL I guess he must have changed his addy somewhere in the past.
See screenshot of properties of email received several years ago from him.

For #6: During the install you have the option to install ADinf32 with a GUI or command line interface.

Does either Adinf32 or Adinf32 Pro:

Allow you to specify a scan of only a specific set of folders that you wish to scan or is your only option to scan the entire hard drive?

    Hi JBB,

I'm not completely sure (have to take a closer look), but I guess the answer is no.
But there are a lot of settings available by making different profiles.
Choose for each profile which drive/partition to scan, etc etc.

At the other hand, it is not completely clear to me why you would like at some moment check folder-1, and at another moment check folder-2.
    Why not check all?
Or make different profiles, if that is what you wish.

    JBB,
Why not install the 30-day full functional trial version of ADinf32 ?

    LOL, I couldn't resist it :D

ADinf32 changes its skins by itself frequently.

For the one I myself like the most, see screenie :D
