    Add CSS to all pages:
    div#slidebox, div#recommended-slide {display:none !important;}

Jeff, so as a test I'm using Firefox with nothing apart from Collusion which detects who is tracking you. I visited http://www.break.com/ and I had 17 trackers such as scorecardresearch and google analytics among others. When going to http://www.guardian.co.uk/ there was more than 10 trackers. Looking at the list some of the those classified as trackers are actually parts of the main website so I acknowledge the numbers are a little misleading but still there are others that are on the list which are comfortably blocked by No Script, Request Policy and maybe even Ghostery.

So the question I ask is how does Ad Muncher stop tracking?

    yes it does.

all of those trackers are blocked.

your tool doesn't understand how Ad Muncher works so it *thinks* they are not blocked.

    That is incorrect.

    here's some more info.

Via the logs tab of Ad Muncher when visiting those sites.

My filter match - Block retrieval of URL: /b.scorecardresearch. [http://b.scorecardresearch.com/beacon.js]

My filter match - Block retrieval of URL: .google-analytics.*.js [http://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js]

    they are clearly blocked...

Also, you can search for the domain name of an ad or tracking company in the default list... if it's not there it may be blocked in a fashion that doesn't use their domain name.

you can always ask me about a specific one and I will show you the filter blocking it.

No need to do that here though don't want to flood the forum with stuff like that.

either come to the IRC chat room or e-mail me or you can even post on the Ad Muncher forum.

Let me know if you have any further questions about blocking trackers with Ad Muncher.

How does Ad Muncher plays with Kaspersky Antivirus ? Is it necessary to disable Web Antivirus module ?

    Hello,

I have run AM with KAV/KIS and never had any issues. It should run just fine with no special settings made within KAV/KIS (or AM for that matter)... Give AM a try as I am sure you will like it...

    I'm sorry but I don't think I understand...

there's only one thing on that site and that's google analytics which is blocked.

    Jeffery,

if i block the domains of most of these tracking companies with the regular Hosts file with all the different downloadable and updated hosts files are they still able to bypass that somehow thru javascript in the browser?

(i leave AdMuncher on almost always and just disable hosts file for a few sites here and there)

also, are these advertising sites able to track even when they cant place cookies in the browser? are there still connections being made and info going to them?

Ad Muncher blocks the connections to virtually all 3rd party ad and tracking companies.

A hosts file is completely unneeded for those items.

    Thats strange ....
just scrolling down with the mouse cursor on the picture seems to generate a popup (even without clicking the mouse).Clicking the TAG (LABEL) in the picture brings up the pop up too.

That doesn't even appear if I shutdown Ad Muncher completely.

my guess is it's coming from an add-on in your browser.

Ive just installed the adblock plus addon to firefox, using easyprivacy list and it blocks the popups,so im guessing that it is an advert though im not exactly sure how it works or why i can see it here in the uk but you cant down under.I can post blockable items logs in adblock plus and assume theres something in this list thats blocking the popup but not present in my current admuncher filters.I dont know if you can glean anything from the attached logs here?

on occasion i need to disable AM on a site. some time ago i remember i could right-click on the page, an AM menu appeared (among the rest of the "normal" menus) and i could disable filtering on that page. i seem to miss this menu when i right-click on the page. is there an option i can (un)check?

it's now CTRL or SHIFT + right click.

also, if Ad Muncher breaks anything, report it using the above hotkey and I will fix it for everyone.
