    Ad-Aware 8.2.5 has been released, here is the change log:

    * Updates to scan statistics.
    * Added Mozilla Thunderbird to whitelist.
    * Adjusted the size of the configure proxy dialog.
    * Fixed crash in configure proxy dialog.
    * Fixed text overlap when switching from simply to advanced mode.
    * Fixed profile switching back to default profile in scheduler.
    * Several stability fixes.

    I am really thinking about installing this again, it seems they are improving but no one ever tests them to see how they are doing :(

    Re: Ad-Aware 8.2.5 released

    Yeah I just searched them up on YouTube and found the test, I am watching it now.

    Update: Well Ad-Aware did not do too bad. Well it''s not as bad as the way some people put it online, it missed about 5 samples. Memory usage in the review was about 60K and that was the Ad-Aware + Sunbelt engine. The Ad-Aware engine blocked most of the Fake Av's, but the Sunbelt engine was the one that caught most of the trojans. Maybe we should pay attention to this product more, although most people say it's not worth using it still does detect malware. All Lavasoft needs to do is to work on testing the product a little more before each release and work and making sure it is coded the best way to lower some memory usage I think the use of the product will start to rise again.

    That program is alike AVG in the sense that we all use it at a point
    in time but time has pass them by. They belong in the past in my
    opinion.

    I also used that version and when I uninstalled, it left a mini filter driver
    that I had to use Auto runs to disable it.

    Since MBAM and SAS have gained a Good Reputation,
    Ad-Aware, Spy Sweeper, and Spyware Doctor have lost ground...

    I I remember correctly, they had AV called Helix but discontinued. GUI looks like Avira and also wondering it used Avira code /engine not Sunbelt. :doubt:

    Re: Ad-Aware 8.2.5 released

    I tried Adware in the past because of the IE download plug-in. I allways removed it because it loaded so slow on my PC. Is this common or just my rig?

    Re: Ad-Aware 8.2.5 released

    So is anyone going to test it? I wonder if they kept the Sunbelt engine in the free version? Is it possible to turn off the AV while installing so you can run it along side a current AV product?

    Re: Ad-Aware 8.2.5 released

    I just noticed that, I knew Lavasoft did not plan on changing the Ad-Aware homepage till tomorrow though.

    Note to the mod's can you please change the name of this thread to Ad-Aware so everyone is aware this thread is a general discussion of Ad-Aware?

    Is the 8.30 version the one that includes an antivirus engine? How heavy is it and does it appear to be VIPRE?
