    It uses Bitdefender signatures from what I can infer from.

    I think the Pro version uses Bitdefender, the free version should use Viper. :D

    It's Vipre, not Viper....:)

    Well THAT would be quite a change from version 10, if the free version used Bitdefender!

    Slow Install, slow updates, interface doesnt give much options, most of GUI cannot be used by free version (all greyed out unless you are a premium users) so yeah you can say "beta" :D

    Well slow install's not the big a deal, slow updates is. How about system impact? I heard the last one had CPU spikes because of the Vipre engine.

    Pretty light I guess but high RAM usage.

    I haven't heard back from Lavasoft about becoming a beta tester yet, so still haven't tested this.

    I've just installed the beta, and am waiting for it to finish downloading the definition updates. As with v10, it installed in companion mode, where it isinstalled solely as an on demand scanner, due to it detecting I had another antivirus installed. However, as mentioned previously the new version uses BitDefender's scan engine instead of Vipre's, which is a big change.

    I did like that v10 used Vipre as I am also running Security 360, which just like this beta uses BitDefender for the scan engine, and it does seem a bit redundant having two BD based antiviruses installed. However AdAware does include its own definitions too, which may be enough reason to keep both installed for the moment.

    I ran a quick scan, which is not nearly as quick as before, it took over 10 minutes to do a scan versus just seconds in v10.

    Yes - it's not showing for me, so I must have disabled it on version 10. I'm not sure if the option to disable it yet for v11.

    Surely this "engine" is the same Bitdefender use for their Free AV product?

    Personally i'd prefer if they'd stick with VIPRE. There are so many Bitdefender clones it's gettinga bit ridiculous...

    Agreed. Plus, the quick scans take minutes now instead of seconds.

    I would fire GUI designer right away :)

    Its outdated design that has been in use 7-8 years ago.

    See Norton, Bitdefender, Panda and follow trend... :D

    Yes it does, finally. I had not had it running on my computer for a few days - I had even killed it's service to make my computer as light as possible. But after enabling its service and launching it, it found an update which it downloaded and installed with no user interaction required, and no need to reboot afterwards.
