    Hello,

    I have one question:

Is it possible to have a backup image of Windows XP Home with True Image for Workstation and restore it to another hardware with Universal Restore which runs also under Windows XP Home? Or better said, what are the hardware and software prerequisites for both systems?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Albert

As long as the "new" system is able to run XP the restore to it along with UR should function without problems. The difficulty most users run into is that during the restore, the option to use UR does not present itself. And UR is used to install the drivers (mainly the display driver) of the "new" system.

What do you mean with "the option to use UR does not present itself"?

On the Acronis site I read that UR runs NOT on XP Home, but only on XP Professional.

Can you restore the backup on another existing XP system and this system is overwritten from the restore or do you have to have a "clean" disk for the restore?

UR is an add-on option for Workstation .... I don't think it matters if your OS is XP Home or XP Pro.

When some users are in the Restore process on another system and they are using TI Workstation with UR, they don't see the UR dialog windows. They need this in order to add the drivers of the "new" system. But let's hope your situation will be different and you do get UR to show up.

    Hello albert0346 and DwnNdrty,

Thank you for using Acronis Disk Backup software

Please note that Microsoft Windows XP Home is supported by Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation Universal Restore add on and you should be able to restore your backup image to another hardware.

    Thank you.
