Acronis True Image 8.0

    does Acronis True Image 8.0 formate the hard drive before it reinstall everything?

    What do you mean by 'format'?

    If you restore from an image representing a complete disk, there is no need for True Image to format anything first since whatever the formatting do, it will be overwritten by the content of the image. So unless True Image likes to do this extra work (e.g. to verify that the disk is in good working order), I do not think it will format anything. But since everything on the disk is overwritten, you might say that it has been formatted?

    Similar, if you restore from an image representing one or more partitions, True Image overwrites the partition with the content of the image. Is that formatting? Some will say yes, some will say no. What do you say?
