    Halo.

Actually, what is the difference between Acronis True Image 9.0 Home
and Acronis True Image 9.0 Personal ?

The Home variant is officialy saled by Acronis.
The latter one I have purchased with polish edition of PC World Computer magazine, the special issue from Mai 2006 due to its 20 years existing.
The magazine claims, this is the full version.

But I don't understand the difference betwenn Home and Personal.
    Does anybody know that ?

    Hi chrizio,

The version of TI 9.0 supplied with the Computer Magazine is unlikely to be the latest build but it should enable you to upgrade to True Image Home version 9.0 Build 3567 at a discount price. Build 3567 incorporates many worthwhile improvements over earlier builds of TI 9.

If you're interested, download and check out the new TI 9.0 Home <User's Guide>.

    Regards

I can agree with you, the version from the PC magazine DVD is unlike to be an up-to-date copy.
But I wonder your statement - updating to the actual version was possible
only against a small fee. Normally / at most software vendors the new apps versions with minor changes, the so-called updates, are always free. Only the versions with major changes / innovations, the so-called upgrades, are available against payment.
Please let me to illustrate this with a generic scheme:
    Version XX.YY.....
All versions with the same XX number are in most cases free if you have
    license for this version.

Could give me some explanation, why do you think, the updates within 9.0 version were not charge-free ?
Are there some explanations about differences between Home and Personal
variant on the producer's page ? I didn't manage to find any.

I agree with your comments on how upgrades are handled for products in general. However, that is typically for products for which you have purchased a license. You are dealing with a free version distributed with a magazine.

I doubt if Acronis is going to give away an older product and then let you upgrade to the lastest version for free regardless of version numbers.

I've never seen ANY company allow a free upgrade from an OEM version to a retail version. Perhaps, a company run by a person like Santa Claus?

    You are completely right, Guys.
Did you see any information about the stripped down
features in the Personal version on the vendor's web page ?
And about the opportunity to upgrade it to the full Home version ?
I didn't manage to find it.

    Hi chrizio,

That sort of info would normally be contained within the pages of the Magazine carrying the promotion. I'd be very surprised if that wasn't so in this case.
