Just thought the Forum would like to know that, when booting an Acer Aspire 1691 WLMI Laptop from either a TI 8 Build 937 or TI 9 Build 2289 boot rescue CDs, you need to use the acpi=off noapic work around (see #II in Acronis Support Sticky titled <Please Read Before You Post> for details on the work around). After that everything works fine.

    Regards

    Hi, Menorcaman

You should ask [No! Demand] the supplier of the Acer Aspire 1691 WLMI Laptop a refund, you should not have to mess with it. :D :D :ninja:

    Hi there TheQuest,

Don't think I would get very far!! From what I've read in this Forum over the past 12 months or so, Acer laptops aren't the only ones that require the acpi=off noapic switch. Indeed, far from it.

Perhaps it would make more sense if the TI recue CD incorporated a User selectable option to continue booting with the acpi=off noapic switch enabled (in a similar manner to the way the TI 9 rescue CD allows Users to select between "full" mode or "safe" mode).

    Kind regards
