    Hi all,

Windows users rejoice! Linux users have had a new cool list of must-have programs - and now you do, too! This article lists 26 best Windows applications, by alphabetic order, one application per letter.

I hope you'll like it! I would appreciate your suggestions.

Hello is this your own website? Nice article! :)

I would like to ask some questions. What are so special about Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware? You seem to miss some great security products.

They work well, fast, have good detection rates - and actually clean what they find.

    And yes, it's my website.

    Cheers,

    2. A fast starting, easy to use word processor that expands well beyond the WordPad feature set.

    Letter 'Q' - Quicktime Alternative

I second Returnil for letter 'R'

I would go along with Returnil for the "R" entry, great program.

For "C" I would say CCleaner and for "X" XnView.

CCleaner gets my vote as well.

Mrkvonic, in your sweet list of Windows programs, under Maintenance, you state problems with CCleaner version 1.34.407 (issue date October 19, 2006). The newest version is 2.21.940 (June 25, 2009) and perhaps it's time to take a second look, provided you warn people about the Yahoo toolbar option, which can be checked off prior to installation.

Probably because 'S' has already been allocated to SUPERAntiSpyware. I agree that Sandboxie would be a worthy alternative. It's a shame that each letter can only have a single nomination.

Two of my favorite and important programs begin with a T - Teamviewer and Truecrypt.

I think I have to declare it a tie;)

    X---xnview, another excellent picture viewer

Then I will replace Irfanview with Imgburn so that no application will fall into the same category.

I didn't see any file managers

    X = Xplorer2 Screenshots.

Not as extensive as Directory Opus, but it's W7 compatible plus they have a free Lite version.

    Nice list.
It's a pity Opera lost out to Open office for O:p

For R, I'd like to suggest Rivatuner.
