I can't WSF windows won't even load up. It goes 3/4ths of the way past the first load bar when windows is loading then the screen pops up. Can't even get into safe modes or the option when windows had a last good state.

Nope still looking and so am I. I'm trying to see how I can run Ubuntu on the HDD but my dad is soooo anti Linux. Hes like "only 100 people use Linux, you can't play your computer games on it any more, only programmers use it." I ran Ubuntu from the family PC using the Live CD and I loved it. With Linux I won't have to worry about running all that stuff in my sig. Plus I do have 2 games that will run on Linux. :p

I suggest you download Ultimate Boot CD for Windows here: http://www.ubcd4win.com/

    burn and boot from it..
it contains utilities to check you harddisk for bad sectors and even recover your data if you need to... it actually contains tons of utilities for disc and data recovery. try it.

I just got "a-screwed" too. Hell, for me, it's easier to reload Windows. There are much better apps than a-squared.

If the bad data writes are as many as I received, I doubt sadly that this disk will be of any worthwhile avail.

Press F8 after computer start and select Safe Mode with Command Prompt Only

If it start type in the command line:

    Code:
    chkdsk /f/r
It will ask you to schedule disk check at next restart, select Y to accepth that.

Type this to restat your system:

    Code:
    shutdown -r
It will estart your system and it will start check disk for bad sectors. It is common problem with laptops.

If that does not help use F8 and select:

    Last Known Good Configuration

    Let us know the results.

How do you know this? To support some of the features a-squared claims, it would have to run hooks or drivers. There is no other way of determining, for example, DLL code injection or registry key hiding, which is typical trojan behaviour.

You have the Ubuntu Live CD. Put it in your CD drive and reboot.
It will see a Fat32 partition, but won't see NTFS Partitions.
Try to reinstall Ubuntu in the ext2 or ext3 partitions. Select expert partitioning.
Acronis True Image (windows version) won't work with Linux partitions
    on your computer.

a-squared Anti-Malware claims to do this and it uses hooks and drivers. a-squared Free is a scanner only without any behaviour blocking features. He said a-squared Free caused the problem.

That problem was caused by an error in the 64 bit context menu dll. It has been already fixed by the latest version.

Thanks and glad to here the bug fixed. I been a very long time user of A2Squared since Windows 98 and it's always been a great help in digging up even traces that others passed over and i'd hate to see it badly complained at.

Hope all is well now before i install again as On-Demand Scanner.
