    Nice offer.

As a heads up.... I seem to recall on previous giveaways that Emsi Software does an automatic renewal thing that customers must be careful to opt out of when subscribing if they don't want to be renewed in a year.

    FWIW ;)

    So, whats the catch?

I mean y release an expensive super high detecting (99%) 2 "top tier engine" product for free? Not enough customers maybe? idk

    Thanks,

    Ges

I don't know about the motivation for give-aways.
All of the features work well and I haven't had a problem with it so far.

On a previous giveaway I chose "cash" payment. If they do not have your credit card number I don't see how they can do an automatic renewal.

Not with this one. You just have to signup for a new user account to get the free license key. No address or billing information required - except you choose one of the other editions that are > $0.

There is no 'catch'. We believe that many users will like the product and buy a renewal after the initial free year.

Free giveaways are a great opportunity to get a higher market share too.

Thanks for posting that clarification. I think that you have done well to eliminate the auto-renewal. :thumb:

I may have missed it, but does the offer require immediate installation, or can one wait until what he is using has expired, and then install A-Squared AM? I have several months on my current application, and hate to waste them.

    Regards,
    Jerry

the way the account system works with A-Squared means thers no need to install it right away, it can be wenever since the license is in ur account, not in a serial key.

Be careful, the remaining days of your subscription start to count down right when you purchase the product, even if you haven't installed it yet.

Therefore, if you want to wait, for example, 2 months till your current application expires, you'll only have 10 months left on your subscription when you install a2.

Thanks, quanzi, and that may cause it to not to be of much help to me. I have about 9 months left on my FS IS license, and I might as well use it. That would just leave about 3 months for the a-squared. However, that would be enough to test it on my system.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Just to be sure about this, I would not need an anti-virus with this enabled, correct? Thank You!

It says it is for free but there is no version besides the trial version listed & the price is 40.00. Nothing about a free version.

    Isn't it just anti malware?

I would still suggest an AV product as well IMO.

Really there is no need . It is called AntiMalware because it protects against MORE than just viruses . It is very good protection . Better than many AntiVirus products out there

it uses the Ikarus Antivirus engine and the A2 Antimalware engine, and btw Antimalware means MALWARE, no where in ther does it say spyware specific...

Yes, quanzi_1507 is correct: "The remaining days of your subscription start to count down right when you purchase the product, even if you haven't installed it yet".

I'm a A-Squared user and today a friend of mine moved from KIS to A-Squared because of it's great detection rate: it catched every worm and trojan inside his USB pen drives that KIS missed.

BTW, A-Squared Antimalware is a complete solution, that means, there is no need for another AV as it has an antivirus (Ikarus) + antimalware (their own engine) and also includes Mamutu, a behavior based malware blocking.

I'm currently happy with it and hope nothing changes that for the next 10 months when my license expires :)
