For those who are interested including me A Squared is running a special for 50% off on their main site. Have a look and see http://www.emsisoft.com/en/. I'm trialing it right now...:thumb:

The only price I saw was $39.95. If that is 50% off then it is a very expensive application if it for a year.

    Regards,
    Jerry

I read "50% discount on the following year's licence when it becomes due."

OK,the homepage didn't make it clear at all :cautious:  The discount is for people who have licenses and extend them another year  . That's fairly standard with some programs. Even so I am pretty impressed with the demo and may just go ahead and renew...:D

a-squared is a very impressive security program. If the IDS does what it claims, it may well be one of the best.

I have been using the free version, and it seems to be a good program. I would probably buy it if I did not have a couple of paid versions of other applications.

When a-squared was released in version 1.0 the exchange rate between EUR and US$ was nearly 1:1. So we decided to fix the price in EUR and US$ at 39.95.

Today, the rate is ~1:1.4. That means if we would update the pricing in US$ to the current EUR value, we would have to charge ~US$ 55,00 to get the same value here in Europe.

Or we can lower the pricing in EUR, which would mean that we earn much less in general.

So this is a substantiation, but not a reason. Interestingly, the price in GBP is 20,73 which seems to put US $ as the basis of calculation.
