Sometimes my system won't go into standby mode, so I click on the on/off button for 5 seconds, then it switches off. After I start it up, I'm immediately back on the desktop, so it doesn't reboot, even though it was switched off completely. How is this possible?

Do you have fast startup enabled?

Yes it's enabled. To clarify, when my power button is off, then the machine shouldn't be in standby mode. But after this problem, it doesn't reboot, just like it was in standby mode, it's weird behavior.

Could it be that fast startup makes you think that computer woke up out of sleep? I would try to disable fast startup and try to reproduce the behavior - just to rule it out.

No, trust me, I recognize a reboot when I see one. Basically, my issue is why my PC is sort of like fooling me, and technically this shouldn't even be possible. If power is cut off, then how the heck can a PC come back out of standby mode?

The only thing I can think of, is that when my PC hangs when going into standby mode, and I turn it off manually, my PC mistakenly acts like it's completely turned off, while in reality it goes into standby mode. Either that, or my SSD retains power after power is cut off.
