"LW: Do you believe Facebook should be covered by any Do Not Track rules that emerge, going forward?
Pepper: It depends. If they are intentionally sharing my data with so-called data aggregators, then yes, I think they should be included.
If they are keeping the data and its analysis in house or are contracting with specific data analysis contractors, then no..
...The main exception would be Google’s Chrome browser, but again, I try to stay away from all things Google.
    "

No worries about f.i. sharing his medical data with world+dog through particular social networks?
Or perhaps it's not relevant for him (and health insurance companies)? Yet...
And then the 'Facebook=good' vs 'Google=bad' attitude. For effin' sake...
    Child-like naivety imao.

Pathetic idiot because he doesn't care if people know that maybe he went jogging today or that his cat died? Most people don't care if a website knows the trivial BS that goes on during their day.

I'm sure he'd look at someone who was ridiculously overparanoid about someone knowing about their day as being a pathetic idiot as well.

There's a difference between him not caring if people know what he does with his life, and him wanting people to know what he does with his life.
People who log their daily activities usually strike me as people who mistakenly believe that everyone is interested.
Oh, I just ate a piece of really good cheese!
Then I looked out the window.
    Seriously?
    :D

While I agree its pretty silly I dont think hes an idiot for not caring that Facebook knows he likes cheese.

Not everyone cares about privacy to the point that they refuse to use social networking. That doesnt make them stupid.

Hungry Man, we might be lining up for another "useless" debate. ;)
Idiot is not the word I would use to describe this fellow.
And you may have missed the distinction I was drawing...
it isn't merely a matter of him not caring that Facebook knows.
It's a matter of him wanting Facebook to know.
    He logs stuff about himself.
He assumes that everyone else wants to hear the tiny details of his day.
That doesn't make him an idiot.
    It makes him a narcissist.

Narcissist and idiot are two very different things.

You can call him a narcissist, I'd agree with that entirely.

An idiot is a word I would not call someone who doesn't care about something like privacy.

I though it was an interesting article and I certainly don't believe him to be an idiot or (LOL) a narcissist.

Nothing wrong with being a bit of a narcissist, I'd say we all are on some level. Definitely would not call him an idiot.

The young man's name is Jeremy Pepper.....

And in my opinion Jeremy exists an keen intuition regarding online safety, security, and enjoyment.
Jeremy's main concern on the www is protecting his last Honest Abe that he has, something we all should be concerned
about and practice as personal security on the www.

Jeremy Pepper appears to freely enjoy the www without any fear or intimidation, something most of us can not attest.

Only Jeremy knows why Jeremy is documenting his life's personal activity on the www and no one has the right to judge.

Jeremy Pepper is an engineering student at West Virginia University, that says an lot about Jeremy's intellect,
and hey.....after Jeremy, You, and I are long gone, Jeremy still exists an Auto Biography on the www, again,
something most of us can not attest, and never will.

Continue to be yourself Jeremy.....you are an inspiration.....
