Tarnak as you have so many security apps running it was bound to happen that you had a conflict but with what app who knows?

Since, I rarely venture into the settings, v8.1.0.203, must have been default, then.

However, a change was made with newer versions that upset the apple cart, for me. Just wondering how the change affected my system...that is all, because from my post above, it is obvious, that I no longer have the default settings.

Also you said you were in contact with support so it's alittle confusing:

Yes...I was in contact with support at the request of Joe. But, now I still have no understanding of the under-the-hood changes. I am only trying to seek understanding.

I understand but with support you did make changes with the self protection right? But as Joe has already said Max is the default! ;)

But, between the two versions, and changes made, I got clobbered!:D

Perhaps, since I was in contact with Joe S in support, our Joe might be able to explain to me by PM or e-mail, rather than here. I am not trying to rock the boat. ;)

Personally I don't use Google Chrome because they have updates to often and I think it's hard to keep with all the updates but I do use IE9, Firefox 14.0.1 & Opera 12.01 without issues so maybe it's a small issue as getting new Google Chrome files whitelisted so I would suggest to contact WSA Support and give them the lines in the scan log that have to do with Chrome and post it in the support ticket!

I am going do that , helpful as always :thumb:

Ps: 1 -Google Chrome files dont show up in scan log o_O
2- I noticed that the high cpu usage appears when Identity Shield protection "stop working"
3 - Besides this problem WSA is blazing fast in my system

Contact them anyways and they can research it with you and come up with a solution!

No Problem ;) I'm going fishing Tuesday hopefully to catch some Large Mouth Bass and I will not rock the boat as I don't swim that great! But I really like this version as the GUI looks more clean and very professional thanks Joe! ;)

Well when they do not consider it a problem, the question of fixing it becomes irrelevant.

This is just from how your license was created in the system and can just be ignored. The Fall release has some major changes coming to the notifications there so you won't be bothered for long :)

I upgraded my five machines to WSA Essentials .229 yesterday. As has been the case with every upgrade so far, it was completely painless and trouble-free. :)

The new GUI looks great to me; very polished and professional, and it's easier IMO to see and change any/all settings. :thumb:

I have to say, I love the performance gains (especially with Chrome) with this new version, but I prefer the old UI. Oh well, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Most likely one of the other security programs on the system took offense to the new PE package:
"OMG, what is this? I have no idea! It's all new and sparkly and I'm too derpy to know."

...and tried to probe it too deeply:
"Okay, wrsa.exe process, bend over and grab your ankles please, I need to see if I like you."

...then got pissy when it couldn't:
"Self protection? What do you mean I can't look at your guts and do evil, horrible things to you like inserting myself into your memory location? I'm gonna have a tantrum and throw things around the computer and make it all sad!"

    In other words:
We recommend setting self protection to minimum when you are running multiple security products. This is because in some cases these products will try to interact with WSA's files and when WSA prevents them from doing so (due to self protection) these programs start to treat WSA as if it is a virus. This can cause major slow downs on your machine because WSA is actively preventing this type of file access. In your case specifically it appears as though one of the security programs on your machine saw the changes to the WSA files with the updated version and started to try to interact with those files in a way that resulted in a slowdown. We did not change anything specificly regarding any of the other security software you are running so interaction from the other programs is the most likely cause.

Can I go back and test this?....I still have the installer for v8.0.1.203.

I know (lightbulb moment)...I will install that version into a snapshot that does not currently run WSA, but has Ewido installed. ;)

I'm also still having issues with Chrome on 8.0.1.229. Cpu usage will eventually start bouncing around 30-70%. Disabling identity shield brings cpu usage back to normal.

Could you let me know if it returns to a higher percentage over time with the Identity Shield disabled?

    Thanks!

Sure. It was still fine this morning, but I'll let you know if I see it happening any more.

For me the problem happens because of the Identity Shield.

Another bug that I have found is a conflict with ATI Catalyst Control Center , when WSA detects and remove a threat it makes CCC crash.
