Thanks! I was already using the free version so it was a no-brainer to step up to the pro version offered by Dottech. :thumb:

I put the code into the free version and it worked so if you already use the free version it looks like you will be able to put in the Dottech license and it upgrades to pro.

i don't like the idea of having an AV, especially a real time one, included in a virtualization program like Returnil.
i think it bloats the program for no good reasons, IMO.

beside, if i want an AV i'd rather choose the one i want.
this is not my idea of "small is beautiful". o_O

There is an option to deactivate it. I don't use the Returnil AV instead I use Avira. :)

unfortunately, it (Returnil Virtual System Pro) doesn't seem to include the System Restore and Rollback function, as seen on their site:

i know you can disable the AV but i'd rather not having the AV installed in the first place.
these real time AVs usually install processes at the kernel level.

    i wouldn't say so...

Returnil Virtual System Pro is a cheaper version.
System Safe PRO is more expensive but has all the features.
they had 3 versions for quite a while, including the free one.

Anyone have any experience with this new version? The 2010 Home Lux version was a bit heavy on my system.

It ran fairly light on my system, for the hour I had it installed.

I didn't remove it. I'm not sure what happened or how it happened but suddenly it began uninstalling. I can't explain it any better than that. Nothing like it has ever happened before.

All I can say is, thank you Comodo Backup. When Returnil finished, my OS was full of errors. Thanks to my backup, on an external drive, I was up and running again in a few minutes.

    I'm back with BZ Pro.

That's pretty bizarre...I never had any software uninstall itself!. Did you post at the Returnil forum?

Posting over there never occurred to me. I don't have logs or anything since I re-installed the backup. I'll go over there and post what happened. It was weird, to say the least.

I'm not ready to give up on Returnil, but next time it'll go into VMware Desktop for a test before I chance it on my operating system.

Again, for the time it was aboard, it seemed only slightly heavier than BZ. Not worth worrying about. That's on this computer, a Vista HP laptop 1.8 Intel Dual Core with 2G RAM.

Thanks for the info but I wont be taking up the offer because I don't support rent/lease ware licencing and in my opinion this is not a gift because you can't keep the software.
