    I don't think I'd take the phone. On a deserted island I would have no signal and no way to charge the thing when the battery dies.

    They're laying it on hilariously thick there aren't they? Also I suspect most deserted islands don't have working cell towers.

    Re actual security, I wonder how many smart phone browsers support per-site or per-domain Javascript blocking. Even per-site, a la Chrome, could probably prevent 90% of "OMG I clicked a bad link" drive-by installs.
