I did try it and I saw almost no potential at this stage. PE GUARD has a long way to go before it becomes even remotely competitive with the likes of Malware Defender. Yes, maybe one day it will be in the same leagues but god only knows when that day would be.

As of now & the next several months, PEG2 is iron pyrite, not gold.

MD already is history in my book. I detest getting fleeced.

As of right now, the *mature & durable* HIPS (& HIPS + FW) include Online Armor, Outpost, Commode [flush it mon ], plus "also rans": Private FW & PCTools FW. PEG2 is not in this elite group yet, IMO.

 

In other words MD offers some kind of protection, not because of its potential as security program, but because of its unpopularity as hips.

 

I didn't say that. MD offers excellent protection due to the many attack vectors it covers and its good default settings. Its customizability only makes it even more powerful for advanced users.
Let me clarify a bit: I doubt anyone would try to bypass any decent HIPS program when the user is a much better target. I used MD as an example for a less known HIPS program (because it is one, compared to CIS and OA for example) that would be even less likely to be attacked than the more widespread products.

 

Night Raven, I know you didn't say that, it was my conclusion. I am registered user and used it with pleasure for more than 15 months. However its defending capabilities come from its unpopularity to hackers, and not from its potential as a (standalone) security app.

Just look the developer, how active was in the forums when he was selling it and how inactive is now, even-though now there is more controversy about his product. He is not even defending it.

 

I strongly disagree on that one. Yes, the unpopularity does indeed help but I still think it's the program's capabilities that are the main reason for the good protection it offers.

 

He might be busy with some work coz at that time he had only one focus ie the MD but now as he works for a new company so new assignments and so new responsibility hence more work and money ofcourse But still I am rooted to MD for its pure classical HIPS like nature

 

No doubt that MD is the best traditional hips up to date.
