Kind of hard to trust all those new AVs. I will give it a try in a few years if it's still around. For now i will stay with well knows AVs that have been around for awhile.
But the software does look tempting and interesting. Kudos to the developers.

Chinese site mentions 360 Antivirus - Latest Version 4.2

English Site mentions 360 Internet Security - Latest version 4.1

    Are both different products?

    Chinese site mentions "Qihoo"

    English site mentions "Qihu"

    Are both different company?

Considering it is Bitdefender engine, this is more Romanian than Asian.

And the GUI is almost the exact same as Baidu. Who was first in China? Who ripped who off?

It will be interesting to test the two AVs against each other.

This. I have to be sure a product is safe to use before I ever put it on my computer.

Yeah the initial Bitfender update probably is downloading all it's def. It's updated itself 3 times so far since install. Not to shabby. I also turned on all the additional options, rootkit scan and 3rd Av engine in realtime. Still running smoothly and no increase in mem or cpu.

For those worried about it being "new," it's not really new, it's just now available in English.

I'm very tempted to try it but just can't trust it (I won't go further, I don't want to make this political).

FYI - It appears to use 625 meg of HD space after updating. This is default settings (2/3 engines enabled). 20-35meg of ram so far.

Trying it on a test machine. Wow...I kind of like it; not enough for my main machine but for a test drive, I'd call it a 5.0 Mustang of free av's (opinion subject to change).

I like it so far. Ok on ram, and good on cpu and disk io. Have not tested protection, but assuming the published results are mostly accurate, then this should be a solid av.

What does QVM stand for? I can only guess (from the description) it may be Qihoo Virtual Machine o_O Has anybody tested each engine's detection separately?

I agree the triple antivirus engines is appealing. So far I'm still very happy with BD Free.

I tried it on a Windows 7 machine. I noticed Windows Action Center did not list it as a Spyware and unwanted software protection - only as virus protection.

Out of the 5 cnet user reviews a couple of them were scathing in nature such as suggesting it will steal your data.

Well if that's included or true, then their welcome to mine all it can take on this end so long as it's virus capture rating remains accurate enough & good. lol

I wouldn't want them missing data some virus erased. lol

I'm not a subscriber to resident AV's from any of the big players but i just might have to try this new triple engine safety AV just to see how well it does perform.

And i don't care if Martians develop my security programs so long as they prove their metal without question. Heck, China made EQSysecure is by far an away the best FREE HIPS app i ever tested and used with 100% pure confidence.

I think they are not real reviews because they only reviewed 0 or 1 and programs and it happens on the same day. Also, this program is popular for chinese users.

I think the same way, but you know... the paranoia/privacy thingy is almost worshipped here.

I'm installing it right now on my mom's PC. I have AX64 ready in case anything goes wrong.

I concur completely. Their so called reviews are obviously biased against with nothing whatsoever to support that extreme a claim.

I gotta try this one out on my Windows 8. I'm anxious to see for myself if it's as feather lite as suggested. I'm all for minimal resource useage and why i still don't use any yet. A lite resident AV that i actually favor would be a first in my camp.

    Regards

Okay, so far everything is too fabulous to be true... From installation, to configuration... smooth.

Only one thing I don't like:
Updating Bitdefender definitions seem to take forever (even after 1st update).

Server issue maybe? If possible i would probably set that particular update to one specific time when you could just be away from the PC awhile.

Sounds like it runs reasonably well overall so far. It's early yet.

Is there another download link then cnet for it. It won't download to my Android device from cnet so i transfer it to the laptop.

Thanks and please keep us advised.
