I Predict that Microsoft will Release a patch making all Other AV's incompatible with Windows. Making MSE the only one on the market to infect windows OS. The master plan is almost ready says MR. Gates.

    Edit.

And no Infect was not a typo. ;)

AntiVir's behavior blocker will become very strong, and FPs will be reduced

Eset will merge to try to stay competitive

Comodo's AV will be better, but the sandbox will have to develop more

    McAfee will improve their firewall

Kaspersky will become more like Norton with trust ratings

Online Armor will have a big year

    Prevx has a big year

Avast AV will make great strides, but the Suite might not be worth it

    Panda gets a HIPS

Norton will get slightly heavier on the system

    BitDefender most improved

"Panda: All their hard work will start to pay off, a good year for them." Question; How will anybody know? I predict they will continue to dodge reputable testing.:p

One thing I liked about Panda that its ability to detect unknown malware tested many unknown samples and blocked most of them and also cloud computing incorporated in PIS 2010.

I don't know what you are referring to.

Their signatures and heuristics are pretty good, but there are no fancy features.

My Avira security suite is buggy sometimes, services stopping out of the blue, and a few others as well.

I was just wondering why Avira was given less than good prospects in the coming year by a couple of posters.

I just switched to Avira and not knowing anything about their mgmt/industry was just wondering if that was a bad switch.

First, currently switching to Avira was not a bad switch. Currently it is a very good choice and has great detection rates. Noting is wrong with it currently, I just personally feel it will be passed in Detection/Features by Avast 5 and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Second we are not an industry, we are people who have a passion for Computer Security :argh:

Gotcha. What little I know about computer security I got from this forum, so when I saw those posts it made me notice.

    Used avira PSS 3months before.
When i tried to open avira from tray icon. It showed some error and Didnt open.
I reinstalled it. it was ok for some days.
But after some days my system hanged when it found a malware . i had to click the reset button. It didnt show anything. This happened several times. I uninstalled it and tried to install Eset SS. then winows alerted that driver has no microsoft's something.

I'll bet that those folks that shelled out for some of the lifetime licences on offer are feeling pretty gutted at that news.:ouch:

That will show you to plan ahead. Never more then a 2 year and next year a 1 year. Anything more then that is a total rip according to some people. It could also be why companys are giving out lifetime licenses they know it wont be any longer then 2 years so WTH.

One of my predictions is that BitDefender will finally put a sandbox into their 2011 suite .I ve made the suggestion some time ago on their forum ,they tend to listen to me usually :) .
In fact almost all antivirus companies will be forced to get sandboxes in their suites ,this is the only way to protect 99,99% a web surfer (the main gate to a PC).
Antivirus software sales will go down due to W7 massive installations.Windows Defender and the included firewall provide enough protection by default and in same time many vendors are still struggleing to get some decent W7 implementations. For W7 64 bit the only security suite that seems to work as intended is KIS anything else i ve tryed made W7 64 bit unusable.

Funny because KIS has been the LEAST stable for me.
