There some questionable advices there too.

AFAIK tweaking network.http.pipelining and .maxrequests/.max-connections can sometimes cause issues when you have security software that acts as a local proxy filtering traffic.

I just set pipelining to true and leave max connections at default.

As I browse sandboxed and want any and all sites to open unimpeded I also turn off FF's inbult security "Block reported this and that" then delete both the urlclassifier2.sqlite and urlclassifier3.sqlite files which are recreated and should sit at default unused size of around 35 kb.

One of the better tweaks i always use isn't listed.

    In about:config

This is up to 4 months and 40,000 URL's stored in your history which can cause places.sqlite to balloon in size and bog it down.

I change it to 14 days min, 28 days max and 2,000 URL's to remove a ton of baggage. I don't see any reason to store 40k URL's that were a one off hit months ago i'll never visit again.

Wilders members, the other reason why I posted the article was to extend the subject beyond these 20 essential tweaks, and for you to offer other Firefox tweaks that you are using (like 1boss1 did), and in the process, make everyone's Firefox a little better.

Reading the comments below the main article, I found another tweak: Multiple homepages with tabs!. For those of us, needing to have several tabs open as soon as the browser launches, this tweak is excellent!

No, this only effects the minimum days and Firefox will still keep up to the max days/url's if it's not short on space.

So when Firefox decides it's short on space and decides to purge places.sqlite it will "leave" 3 days history if you set it like that. So setting max values will define it's upper limit, this isn't configurable with the menu.

Try it, do what you said and set it to 3 days in the menu and you will still pull up history older than that.

Here is one random post i just pulled up on Google: http://blogs.n1zyy.com/n1zyy/2008/09/16/firefoxs-history-setting/

    Not loading a 60mb places.sqlite helps a lot.
