    1. Foxit PDF Reader.
    www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
    ~950kb download.
No installation. Just unzip and run.
    Supports bookmarks.
Nearly as fast as Notepad on small file sizes!

I switched from Adobe Acrobat reader because...
    1. 28 mB installer. pfftt.
    2. HUGE load on memory.
    3. Browser addon was real nasty... created a slowdown if I clicked a PDF link.

    2. CutePDF Writer [previously CutePDF Printer]
    http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp
For me, creating PDF files was never an issue [never wanted to]. Then someone showed me the PDF Printer installed by Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional. I started thinking... something free ought to be there for idiots like me.
    so here it is.
download BOTH files on the left hand column of the page.
Note: Also found a 6 MB downloadable installer for "eXPert PDF Reader"
    www.visagesoft.com/products/pdfreader/index.php
But Foxit was WAAY too attractive ;)

    Have fun.

I use the Adobe Reader 7.0.1 with one of this programs and it's very quick to open a file,
if you choose the right settings in the programs... :)

    Adobe Reader SpeedUp

    PDF SpeedUp

Until now I didn't found a decent free converter to PDF...

You can do that with the programs that I suggest... ;)

The last one is more easy to use...

I've been using it now for quite some time and don't have any problems with it. I like it better and it opens PDF's really fast. :)
BTW I already uninstalled Adobe Reader, as I already posted here. :D

hey, so do you know how I can export selected portions of pictures from a pdf to clipboard in Foxit?
edit : I mean both text and pics. the current select and copy method is not working out as nothing is pasted in notepad/wordpad. No text. No images

You can select text to copy to your clipboard, but not pictures. For exporting pics I use SnagIt, but you can use another screen capture tool for it, like HoverSnap, MWSnap, ...
No big deal for me. ;)

Text copy doesn't work as advertised... any other ideas?
Which tool did you use for editing the screen shot?

I don't know why it doesn't work for you, but it works for me. :doubt:
Did you select the text tool?
Sorry, the screenshot of MetaPad was in transparent mode.
As always SnagIt (= not free), but it's a wonderful tool worth its money.
