How come that with TrueImage Echo the validation process takes much longer then creating the Image. This is really frustating and backup windows get to big!

    Acronis Please explian?

I'm almost sure I've read here that the validation has to validate ALL the previous incrementals and possibly the base image too. How many incs do you have?

My understanding as well and it does include the base image too. Also, if the archive is in the SZ it will do all the archives stored there. Don't know if the Backup Locations behaves this way as well.

There should seriously be a ‘validated’ flag/bit. Once a file has been validated, either by choice or a forced validation, the bit should be set and the file never validated again unless by user selection.

I have been complaining about multi validations since I started with TI 8. It happens to all archives in a secure zone and also to the contents of Locations unless the current locations backup is created without validation. A Location archive can be selected for individual validation as a seperate exercise.

It seems that multiple validations are so deeply ingrained in the original code there is no attempt being made to correct this silly anomaly.

To save all this nonsense I now never run validations. It is far more secure and satisfactory to run restores to a swapped hard drive. I used to do this every time a new backup was created but now I have eliminated an intermittent fault in my hardware I only restore once or twice a week.

this should be the solution! Acronis one thing to implement! ;-)

    Now we do the following
    create incrementals at 0700 - 0900 - 1100 - 1300 - 1500 - 1700

And at night we run a validate of all the created images from 1800.
I can assume that when I say validate server.tib it whill also validate all the incrementals right? Otherwise we might have a problem.....

    Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Backup software.

When you validate incremental backup the program validates it with all the incrementals and full one from the backup archive set. Here I'm saying about any version of the program no matter whether it is Acronis True Image Home version or one of enterprise ones. Probably validation mechanism will be changed in future but I'm not sure as it is discussed by our Development Team now. You can write about you wishes in the Wish List Thread and Development Team will take them into account.

When you validate backup from Backup Location it validates all the backup sets (backup set is full+incrementals/differentials related to this full) found in this Backup Location. Such a validation mechanism is not the best one and it will be surely improved in the future versions.

    Thank you
