In case of harddrive failure will I be able to restore my system partition on a substitute drive of another make, size and type? For instance, would it be possible to restore a system drive image from a 60GB SCSI drive to a new 180 GB SATA drive, and will it boot?

    That's more than one question.

Moving from one type drive controller to another brings up driver issues. Does the OS already have drivers for all the controllers? If so, that part at least is good. There are occasionally problems with moving across different controllers, as the controllers may use different addresses on the drive for partiiton and/or array data. But if you're not talking RAID, you should be OK.
