Panda's detection is quite good - I've used it for about 3 years and only 1 or 2 worms got through, however they are working on a 2006 version which will make 2005 super slow a few months after they release it.
2006 beta: http://www.pandasoftware.com/draw_betatesters Don't know if it's lighter than KAV, I never used KAV - But something tells me it's not.
