I use True Image at work to make images of customers hd's before i wipe and reload them. Have been using it for a few months now, and the program is great. However, i have come across my first problem this morning.
Before i image any drives, i piggy back them and clean them out, ie; spyware, virus, etc. This way non of that gets imaged. This paticular drive had some funky stuff on it, and changed permissions of all of the files. SO i spent a good part of the morning resetting ownership and permissions on the files and folders so i could gain access to them. Once done, i proceeded to clean everything out, then made an image of the drive. Wiped and reloaded the drive, did my basic stuff. Now i'm ready to take theimage, open it up and copy the customes music, documents, etc back over. There is a problem... Though i had ownership of everything before i imaged the drive, i no longer have this. I can't get any of the backups onto the newly formated drive. I have tried to set ownership again, however with XP,i need to be logged in under safe mode. Everytime i try to open the image in safe mode, it reboots the system. I have done everything by the book to get ownership of these files and folders, all to no avail. Is it possible with this image being on a virtual drive, to set ownership to the files and folders? If not, does anyone know of another way to get this customers files back to the new hd? Thank You. |

Hello rrice,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software. Please note that a possible workaround might be becoming NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on Windows 2000/XP/2003. Thank you. -- Alexey Popov
