*Before I get started, I want to update on on a previous thread, "Spywareblaster 3.4 error code 4". Knock on wood, but it appears I've finally got rid of those two annoying messages: Windows Security Center, and, the, Your Computer Might Be At Risk. First of all, I ran two different scans: Panda and TrendMicro because, one scan can sometimes clean what the other misses. Using both may have been an overkill, but I did it anyway. Then I went to "Troubleshooting" in the file system, placed a check in the Disable System Restore box, then clicked on Apply. Then I removed the check from the box, and clicked on Apply again. Then I clicked on Close, and clicked on YES, for the computer to restart. Today will be the 3rd or 4th day those messages have not shown themselves. I think a few more days are needed to make sure this fix worked. Unless they are somehow redeposited back onto my computer again. One more thing I need to mention, if you decide to clean your System Restore as I did, make sure you use a good virus and spyware scan. It is my understanding that the scan has to be done first, before cleaning the System Restore. Then a fuul scan, one more time, after cleaning the system restore.**Now, my Memory and System Resources problems. 1- I have 768MB of ram. About 3 weeks ago, is when my memory problem began. Without fail, after being online for 30 to 60 minutes, something is depleting the memory down to 90 to 109 MB. Not knowing the cure for this problem, I installed a memory optimizer. This didn't work at all. When the auto optimization kicked in, it could never complete the optimization. It was like a needle stuck in a record groove. From that point, my computer wouldn't respond to any commands. The only thing I could do was shut the computer down, then start it again. 2- Approximately 6 months ago, when online, and, after spending short periods of time online, I began receiving this message: "System Resources are low". Try closing some programs or restart your computer". So, I was dead in the water again. Only closing my ISP (AOL), would release the system resources. Then I'd be back in business again, for a short period of time. Any insight on these matters, would be very appreciated. Mike

what OS are u using? general esp for xp, it is not recommended to use a "memory optimizer or defragger" as xp can handle the memory pretty well. secondly for xp, use the task manager to see what process is using ur memory. for any OS, check ur page/swap file, try increasing it.

ok thats not a good sign, if at all possible consider xp or at least 2000. secondlly is ME working ok for u? many people including myself dislike it and prefer 98.

Mornin'. Yea, I found out about ME when it was too late, that is, after I had it for a while. At first it did fine. Then later on down the road I began to realize that ME had a variety of issues. It locks\freezes up frequently for no apparent reason. Whether this is OS or virus and spyware related, or both, your guess is as good as mine. I've really had it up to the gills with ME. I literally spend more time trying to keep this machine running, than enjoying it. I plan on upgrading to XP in a new computer, after I get called back in from layoff. Is XP far more stable and reliable than all previous OS's? What's your recommendation? Thanks, Mike
