Hello,
Yesterday I happened to notice that advertising.com had invaded my computer and sucessfully loaded seven zip files without my knowledge or assistance. I noticed this when I checked my cookies after I had received one of their pop up ads with the following message. "Your computer is currently broadcasting an Internet IP address. With this address someone can immediately begin hijacking your computer." The way that I see things it was advertisng.com that was the hijacker and although I was able to delete their cookies easily enough it took a great deal of time to get rid of the above ad which was imbeded in my desktop wallpaper. My question is that I'm curious to know how this occured as advertising.com has been on Spyblaster's list for some time now and until yesterday Spyblaster had been very successful in keeping this and other annoying intruders away. Many thanks. |

It can be found by clicking an an innocent looking ADD BANNER. I have seen it ALL OVER THE INTERNET AT MANY DIFFERENT SITES! It may also be behind other adverts on web sites and in shareware/adware programs." http://www.hamuniverse.com/ipscam.html http://www.macalester.edu/cit/bulletin/ http://aroundcny.com/technofile/texts/bit121102.html DS |

Thanks but these urls are totally unfamiliar to me and I'm extremely cautious about the websites that I visit.

Please try deselecting all items in SpywareBlaster, pressing the "Remove Protection" button, and then reselecting all items and pressing the "Protect" button.
If you could send the cookie file to press@wilderssecurity.net if it appears again, I would appreciate it. ![]() Best regards, -Javacool

Thanks so very much. I'll do as you suggest and you can count on me sending you the cookie file in the event that this should occur again. I do appreciate it.

Javacool,
I also was having the problems as pedal steel, and deselecting and reselecting seem to take care of it. I have tried about all spy ware and "Spywareblaster" is the first to have any effect for me. ![]() |

Ouch!,
I have to retract my last post. The advertising.com banners are back and deselecting and reselecting has no effect. ![]() I'm at a lost on what to do now. ![]() |
