Default KAV questions

I am currently demoing KAV Personal Pro 5 which I like very much. I am a registered NOD32 user as well (also like very much). I am contemplating purchasing KAV but I am unsure of their licensing practices. Specifically, I have two PCs at home, will their license key allow me to use on both? If I purchase now will I be entitled to to their new version 6 during my 1 year subscription? I am asking on this forum as I know there are KAV users here and I wanted to get input from them before asking Kaspersky directly. How do user's of KAV feel about their service and support? Finally, anyone who has used both NOD & KAV extensively have any comments good or bad? All comments are welcome and appreicated...

1. [I think] the license applies to only one installation of KAV on one PC.
2. I suspect you will be able to upgrade your KAV and it will accept your current key so long as that key is not expired.
3. Usually your license-key has a one-year fuse on it. It is a simple regkey file that is imported into KAV to validate your subscription and allow you to update KAV.
4. NOD32 vs. KAV, there are many discussions, just do a forum search.

HTH ..

I have had excellent support from Kaspersky UK over several years.

ICE SYSTEMS in the States and the KAV Forum are also known to give very good backup to users of this AV.

HOWEVER, support from the main Russsian support site can be very patchy.

In my experience, the Russian support offers a really quick response, but the answers were not as detailed as the UK support. Nevertheless, the answer was still good enough to get the job done, so I guess its alright.

Oh yeah, KAV and NOD32 are BOTH excellent AVs with excellent support. KAV was *slightly* heavier on my PC, when I'd weigh the aesthetics, updates, functions, etc. of these two AV programs I pretty much give them both the same rating, with a slight edge to NOD because of advanced heuristics.

steven3mx I'm a reseller for Kaspersky, your KAV license will work for all of your computers, you are "supposed" to purchase a separate license for all of them but personally I think if you own a few computers then you should only have to purchase a single license. As far as I know your license will work for the new 2006 version, I will ask my supplier and let you know..... I need to know for my own clients anyways.

Personal Pro used to come with two licenses for the price of one, but now it says one user for one year.
If you do not already have Counter Spy check out The Deal at Ice Systems .

About pricing and usage of KAV. from 'ROOT's' link.

Quote:
Products for Home Users
Kaspersky Labs offers applications that have been specially designed for use on a single home or family PC. If you have multiple machines connected to a network (LAN), the solutions Small to Medium-sized businesses might be a good choice.
[bold and italics were mine]

So, as far as pricing and multiple machines, it clearly states SINGLE home or family PC, if you own more, then there are prices for a networked system, from 2 users up to 100.

As far as KAV goes, I am extremely happy with it, have not tried NOD so cannot comment, but obviously there are many many happy campers using it.

Cheers, TAS

According to Kaspersky UK's webpage it still does, making it an attractive buy for those with multiple PCs.

European Union purchasers should note that they can save paying Value Added Tax (15-20%) on KAV by purchasing it via the Swiss reseller Metropolitan Network BBS via Paypal (going through any registration system like Digital River results in VAT being charged automatically).
