Default VirusScanEnterprise (Mcaffee)

Hi All,

Noticed a lot of people who run Mcaffee run the VSE version?

On the website it looks like this is designed for servers and clients. Will it run on personal Windows XP computer and update automatically?

I am guessing you all chose VSE as it runs lighter?

Cheers

Jlo

No problems running on a standalone (XP) workstation and you can set it to update in a number of ways.

Although it has a number of running processes, most people have found that it runs very light, particularly when compared to the Home version. Depending upon what features you install, it takes up between 25-35MB RAM.

IME, when using VSE as a primary AV I have found no affect at all on system performance on a variety of computers.

However, don't forget that you cannot obtain a single license. But if your Company/University use it you can then load it on your standalone computer as part of the site license agreement.

Further, you cannot obtain the important patches/hot fixes from within the program's normal updater. This will only download malware definitions and engine upgrades and NOT the patches.

This AV can only be patched through the corporate environment.
