Don't doubt. DCS never let us doen in history so why would they now? Heavy beta testing in the lab before releasing it to the beta testers. Remember there are THREE TDS products in the build at the time to work additionally (Pro, Guard, Scan) and WG-4, we just got PE with the 5th upgrade already. DCS never releases a product to the public if anything would not be thoroughly secured and satisfying. Compare this with any of the MS products, of which i remember for win2000 it had some 65,000 vulnerabilities and errors at the moment of it's release worldwide, and for which are urgent security updates and patches necessary several times a year, while the whole world keeps using it and although annoying seem to think that's part of the game. With any DCS product there has never been any security problem at all. At the moment we're also beta testing a nice tool which will even be FREEware. While we betatesters think the tool is very usefull and could most certainly be a good shareware program, doing more then couple of commercial products in the same area. I know there are more programs in the build we don't talk about. Further: don't get the impression building one product would delay all others, as this is not true. Technology and tests do add to experience with others. Also the world of trojans and worms technology has changed remarkably and so has the defence to keep on top and steps ahead. Hence the complete new build of TDS-4 which is not just an addition and polishing of the existing TDS-3, but a completely new triplet.

Is this what they call at gun-point? (seeing your dangerous Avatar, was this tested by the board's TOS commission?)
Wow, i rather wait for a good version -- of which several parts have been betatested with great success already then bring out some buggy thing which needs updates a day and repais of our system, unstabling what we had and then say "yeah sorry, it has more undocumented features then noted" No, no no, that's not the TDS way. So we wait patiently for the things to come. For the OS: thought they are already two systems passed the longhorn coming after XP, while still solving 2000 matters and imagine the hundreds of thousands or millions still using 98 / me / 95....... Calculate: if TDS was 10% of an OS, then we could have expected 10% of 65,000 bugs, would we have accepted? No. Did we have 1 after the release of the final 3.2.1? No. So it's really worth waiting and tell me your gun is just a cigaret lighter or to light the barbie. Yeah!

I look forward to it's release, Hopefully it will be less of a system resource hog, and be more user friendly, And completely XP compatible.
To Jooske from Vampirefo you stated no bugs after the release of the final 3.2.1? This is not completely accurate, 3.2.1 has bugs, I submitted a file that would crash it, no fix would be available until version 4 came out, Gavin himself told me this. No software is bug free, I am not knocking TDS just stating a fact, that no software is bug free. I am waiting to give TDS-4 a test run, I enjoy testing software. I run Trojans, Viruses on a test machine, and see how well a product detects and removes them, I go beyond the average user, which just scans the Trojan or Virus file or zip. To know exactly how well a product works, one needs to completely test the product, But the testing is not for everyone. My Machine is setup for testing, I have images made of the test machine, plus I use Deep Freeze on the test machine, as well as several monitoring tools. If if all this goes well, one could still have software conflicts with other software, My test machine runs many of the same applications, that my work Machine does, If I find a certain software conflicts with other software on my test machine, it never gets installed on my work machine. |

Hi Vampirefo,
You're more then the average user, i think you do a great job looking deeper then many other users are able too and send the results to the developers to look deeper into that part, for the wellbeing of the whole internet community. I remember you wrote about test results you sent in time ago, was not aware of the futher history; so we might expect it shows up in special conditions and is not a great security risk or do i see it now too simple? I'm glad people are helpful this way enabling developers to make their products even better as each person has their speciality. Think in the current times, where also the nasties get more complicated, such cooperation is needed and appreciated!

If someone buys TDS3 now, what will be the situation when TDS4 is released? Will he have to buy it again, or at a discount, or as a free upgrade, or what?

Hey guys, better put a hustle on getting TDS 4 released, or you're going to have to rewrite it before it even gets released.
![]() See the good news here. But then again, M$ may have an OS then that doesn't need security programs. He he.

Scary, isn't it? Selected quotes from that article:
"The new version of the operating system will not run any of your existing Windows software." (Hope you've got a lot of money and time for the switch-over - Pete) "If Microsoft calls it something other than Windows, then it would be completely free from the anti-trust judge who is ruling over them for the next several years." (Isn't that just ducky for M$? - Pete) "By calling it something other than Windows, they then would not have to worry about things like not being able to integrate certain software into the system. They are free from those restrictions." (Hope you like running only M$-approved software - Pete) "This new file system will allow you to look through all your files. For example, you can see all the music files, files by a certain artist, files in a certain format, across all disk drives. You’ll have much more of an ability to find the stuff you want without having to look through whole lists alphabetically." (That should ease things considerably for the folks from the RIAA and the government when they confiscate your computer and toss you in jail - Pete) I did find this one statement hysterically funny, though - "Rewriting Windows so it won’t have such security problems will be so attractive to people that companies and individuals will switch over to this new version of Windows almost immediately after it comes out in 2005 or whenever." (You betcha'!) Pete

And DCS built lots of system files in the programs themselves, so to have them optimal for all windows versions.
We might be betatesting soon v4.9 or thing like that ![]()

If the proposed new OS is going to operate/have functions as listed above, it would be better to start spreading the word that no one's going to support the new OS right now.
I'm talking about all the software vendors of security products of every type. Pete
