Good looking for a good alternative to Adobe Acrobat…

I rarely use or view PDF files, but there is sometimes a rare moment when I need to. Right now I don’t have a PDF reader installed on my computer, I am not going to put Acrobat on here, it is too slow and bloated, plus I think it comes with extra crap now (Yahoo toolbar or something). I would just like something simple, small and of course crapware free for the occasional time I need to view a PDF, thanks.

Foxit PDF Reader is very nice and light, but still have bugs, like selecting some text...

Or if you want to give the beta-version Foxit PDF Reader 1.3 Beta Build 0519 a whirl.

It doesn't have to be installed at all.
Just unpack and copy it to its destination.
Very fast in opening PDF's.

 

I second that, FoxitReader looks like Adobe. But amazingly fast and no bloat!

 

I got Foxit, just my kind of app, no install needed, very quick and no bloat! Very nice, thanks for the reccomendation...

 

Don't know much about Foxit, Matt, but I hope it works out for you. I just wanted to add that the two "extras" that come with Adobe (a toolbar and something else) are OPTIONAL. During installation, you are presented with the option to either accept or decline both add-ons. I declined both and just took Adobe.....but I did want to let you and others know that it IS an option.

 

I already tried that version but now I saw that the problem is me...

I didn't know a feature...

Besides, if you want a faster Adobe Reader, do to "Help > Accebility Setup Assistant" and choose the best settings for you.

I used to use a accelerator program but with that works very well...

It was also addressed by me in this topic.

 

Foxit PDF reader works just fine for me. I have been using it for awhile with no probs.

 

Foxit PDF reader for sure has no bloat and one to watch. I just noticed that one PDF I downloaded does not display correctly which is missing text. I'm sure it will get better. I compared this to the Scansoft reader in their PDF Converter Pro 3. Adobe reader displays great but is just too fat and the full version is so expensive even for an upgrade, which I chose not to renew this time. I think we are in for some changes in the directions of Adobe and other companies.
