Announcing Ad-Aware 5.8!

New in this release:

OpenMe.exe,

and some minor fixes and improvments as always..

Also, This update uses a new Referencefile format, please read
here for further details:

includes the new reffile (005-29-04-02)

*Please uninstall all previous installed Ad-aware versions before installing *this update.

Future release of RefUpdate planned within the next few days to a week. Please watch this forum for the announcement.
Proposed update includes:
Proxy support

Because of new reference-file file name, Ad-Aware Checker will be updated soon to cover the new version (with a checkbox for 5.71 and below, and 5.8 and above).

A small correction to the release notice

*Please uninstall all previous installed versions before installing *
this update.

Should say

*Please uninstall all previous installed Ad-aware versions before installing *this update.

For anyone having problems un-installing their previous version of AA, this was posted on the LS site:

"To everybody who have problems uninstalling the recent version:

To manually uninstall AAW, please do the following:

1.Delete the entire AAW folder
2.Delete these registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lavasoft\AD-Aware

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Ad-aware 5.71 ".

Note: The second key listed may not be there if you have the version of AA with the un-install problem - if so, just delete the first one.

I'm moving this post to Privacy Software. Pete
