No.. If they did they would have the same size database.

Which the databases are not the same.

BitDefender Online actually caught some malware the other day that was missed by KAV. Pretty good in my opinion. Both products seem to be excellent. I'm running KAV 4.5

Bitdefender has really raised the size of their database latley and has improved their product quite a bit and it seems to be a pretty good av and getting better.

Does ther free Bitdefender 7.2 version use the same large database? Just started trying it as a backup scanner to KAV but was wondering if it was worthwhile bothering.

Yes it does and I have noticed BitDefender 7.2 Free has the second best overall scanning engine just after Kaspersky against my Virweed "cleaned" 2723 samples collection, when those riskware and/or trojan client & editserver samples were cleaned out.

Best regards,
Firefighter!

AVK uses both ,but Bitdefender uses it's own database and engine.

I mean that BitDefender 7.2 Free has the same large database as the BitDefender 8.0 Standard version.

Best regards,
Firefighter!
