Looks like AVG failed... i wonder what happened...

 

It may not be my pet AV, but Bitdefender is on a roll. Right up there with KAV and NOD32.

 

It seems that the documents have been removed. Is there a problem with the test results?

They are there. You need to click on Online Results on the home page. On the next page, towards the bottom, there is a link that starts "To get an overview of the comparatives ..... ", click on where it says "here".

Docuemnts are not removed - no problems with them . The official release date for the results is the 1st June, I think that's the reason .

Looking at stat i may finally have to give Dr.Web a try.

 

Advance+ for BitDefender, KAV and NOD32. Oh my! I have licenses for all three. Now what do I do? Possibly an AV using those three engines?

 

I was waiting that AntiVir had a better results...

 

I am close to that: I have licenses for AVK 2005 (BitDefender+KAV engines) and NOD32 - I prefer to use NOD32, smooth as silk

 

Avast passed and maintained it's ranking which is Standard.

 

I agree, avast! is just a stable preformer... Look at AVG for example, in the two times they got tested the both times felt out of rating... Also some others (Symantec/Norton) have a lower grade now...

 

GDATA 2005 is looking rather good.

 

Looking at the "Report" format - which is pdf but has more info than the ".pdf" download. Avast didn't do so bad. Seems to have smoked Antivir in all categories but DOS viruses etc. I can't get the yellow chart to make sense with #5 in the "report" break down... Perhaps I need more coffee.

Are all DOS virii still even valid if I'm running XP?

Question, can any AV actually fail the Retrospective/Pro-active test? Did AVG just not detect a single piece of malware by heuristics?

 

What are the features of Retrospective/Pro-active test?? I don't know exactly

 

Please do not jump to conclusions before the test results/report are available.

In the meantime, to understand what a retrospective test is, read the FAQ's or/and the previous retrospective tests that are on the website.

 

Sophos appears to be the most improved in this catagory; they didn't score very well in the retrospective test a year ago. Looking forward to the detailed results.

 

yes, and the sophos tested is not the new version 5 as well!

(I see it in my own stats that the new version does not brought a big change in detection rates; mainly just new gui)

The same applies more or less to the others too; so please do not start to say "yeah but the new version would detect much more or would be better than.. " etc. because thats in some way nonsense.

 

Man SOPHOS 5 feature is updater which is not available in 3.x/4.x.
Plus as IBK mentioned new interface. There should be some new feature to identify new and modified malware,but i never actually heard anything impressive about it.

 

Wohay.. you have the new version! it was only a guess because they have been posting about their new and improve Genetype Heuristics. So i thought that may at least boost its detection rate.

But i still think NOD 2.5 would detect more

My feelings also about NOD32.

 

The proactive/retrospective tests are meant for analysing an AV's abilility to heuristically/generically detect malware.

Hehe, HIVE seems really really good. BitDefender is now gonna fight tooth-and-nail with NOD32

and yes, GDATA AVK now looks very good, with BD's heuristics and KAV's signatures.

And no - that does not mean I'm gonna buy GDATA AVK! It just means, those looking to buy an AV should now consider AVK, and current AVK users be happy
