Different companies different counting methods. He's just making the point that their database is growing. Nod still does not say how many definitions they have. By the way Tahoma when is the new version due?

This might seem like a dumb question, so sorry in advance. I know thouse numbers included the beta pattern files but how did you install them? I have the files but cannot get them recognized by Dr Web,

Download the Beta defs into the DrWeb folder... How do you know that Dr.Web is not aware of them?

That was fast! I know it is not aware of them because I have more recent definition files (than in the picture) and yet my numbers are lower.

does it identify mirc.exe as riskware ? if so then the riskbases are installed...if not then i guess they arent. ur only supposed to put them in the drweb dir. altho drweb doesent load them right away, in fact it only checks if new defs have been added/downloaded every 60 mins by default. you can change this by opening drweb.ini and find the line 'UpdatePeriod = 60m' and change this to 10 or 5m
reboot may be required

avast! shows only 60k entries and it can still compete with AntiVir with 150k entries... it's just the matter how they count them...

There should be no such thing as a dumb question on these forums. If you ask a question, you can bet that someone somewhere is wondering the same thing.
