Default Imon question...

Since upgrading to the new release version, the download progress indicator pops up, even when opening small webpages, or downloading small files.
(It's unchecked in settings).
I have IMON configured as advised in the extra settings tutorial post.
If I set IE to compatibility mode, this still happens.
Obviously, I'm missing something... but I don't want to weaken my protection,
at the same time, I'd prefer not to have to click *switch to passive mode*
all the time, which I'm currently doing.
Thanks for any help!

Yup.
I was able to stop it, by changing the *switch to passive (compatible) mode for files* downloaded to more than 5 seconds (in IMON setup).
But I'm not sure how much this weakens my protection?
I suspect not much, but if anyone can set me straight, I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

I think that this is weakening your protection. Better to set your IE in higher efficiency. If u have problem viewing the progress indicator, i think that there is an option not to appear.

I have everything set for higher efficiency. I just changed the download time factor for files. I do have the progress indicator unticked.

I wonder if someone from Eset could let me know: a) is something wrong, that the indicator pops up even when opening an 80kb webpage... and b)
by setting the switch to passive to 5 seconds, am I compromising my system?

I'm on dialup, using the new release version on XP... and I never had this problem with the previous release.

Any help is appreciated... thanks!

Hi burf,
If you download a fresh copy of NOD32, uninstall your current version and then install from the fresh copy does the problem go away?

I haven't tried that.
Obviously, I'd prefer not to do a clean install, but if that will help...

Thanks!

You are connected via Dial-up... When I used to be connected via dialup nod32 showed me progress bar too, even i was downloading only 80kb file.. I don't think there is something wrong in your NOD32.. It just depends on connection speed..

DSL 3000/384 here and I have also noticed this download progress indicator activity since updating. I get the indicator even if I add sites to Server Compatability list.

I trust burf that your issue was not that the progress indicatior appeared but that you were unable do disable it if you chose to?
Unless I'm mistaken the progress indicator should always appear for anything set to higher effeciency once it takes more than a few seconds for any individual file. It's an indicator for your benefit so you are aware something is happening, that NOD32 is handling the file and not that nothing is happening as it may otherwise seem to be.
