Hello, I tried making the Title of this thread as detailed as possible... after making a recommendation of NOD32 to a friend, he loves it and has used it for a few days now. But for some reason... he told me that in the Start Menu it won't go away. A problem where Windows XP keeps saying that theirs "New Programs Installed" in a yellow bubble when he hits the start button. For some reason... it hasn't gone away in over 3 days and no other program according to him has this problem. The Eset folder in the start menu is the only one that is yellow showing of course that its a new installed program.
He told me he also ran a registry cleaner I also recommended to him called Registry Mechanic. It won't fix the problem... so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Thank you !! ![]() |

One of the first things I did away with on XP was the newly installed programs notifications. Right click the start button, properties, start menu, customize, advanced, uncheck highlight newly installed programs.

Yeah, for reasons I've never bothered to learn, the New Program Installed thingy is buggy in some XP installs. I turn it off too if it doesn't go away on it's own...
