error while creating boot disk

when i try to create a boot disk i get a error message that

set up cannot properly initialize the disk u inserted

error : disk sector was not found

How are you trying to make this boot disk..what is your OS and what kind of partition do you have on the PC ?


'Boot Sector Not Found’ Error Fix.
There is an incorrect value in the Partition Boot Record (PBR) on the hard disk. Any computer with a mis-match in the number of read/write heads reported by the Partition Boot Record and the system BIOS will likely have this problem.

Summary

Error Msg: "Setup Cannot Properly Initialize The Disk That You Inserted" Error When Creating A Startup Disk In Windows Millenium

Symptom

A Disk Initialization Error may occur.

Resolution

Attempt to create a startup disk in Safe mode.

Enable the Microsoft Windows Millennium Startup Menu:


On the desktop, click the Start button.
From the Start menu, click Run.
In the Run dialog box, type: Msconfig, and then click OK.
In the System Configuration Utility window, click the General tab.
On the General tab, click Advanced.
In the Advanced Troubleshooting Settings window, select the Enable Startup Menu check box, and then click OK.
In the System Configuration Utility window, click OK.
In the System Settings Change window, select Yes to restart the computer. The computer will now restart.
Restart in Safe mode:

When the computer restarts, it will display the Microsoft Windows Millennium Startup Menu. Select option 3. Safe mode from the list, and then press ENTER. Windows will start in Safe mode.
Once in Safe mode, close the Help and Support window.


Create the Startup Disk:


Insert a blank, formatted disk in the floppy disk drive.
On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. If you do not see this icon, click View All Control Panel options.
In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click the Startup Disk tab.
Click Create Disk.
In the Insert Disk dialog box, read the message carefully. When the disk is ready, click OK.
The startup disk is created. Please wait.
In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, click OK.
In Control Panel, click File. From the File menu, click Close.

i am running win 98 se.

actually i am using control panel to create boot disk there is a

tab in add/remove programs start up disk and when i click create

disk i get the error message.

i have 3 drive partition c,d and e

and you are using then a 3 1/4 "floppy" and not a CD right ? Then if you are sure that the floppy is not bad and it is compatilbe.. then try to do it in the safe mode.

Tell me also what happens when you do not even insert a floppy in first..do you get any other kind of popup context menu appearing.

BTW these are ways to put Win 98 into the Safe mode.

Then if you are using a floppy make sure you read this..and that the tab is not set for write protect.

More and more diskettes turn out bad. chkdsk will not always check everything. Better use a new diskette.
Did you format the flop first?
