Default True Image 8 crashes when using boot CD

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone come across this before?

I installed Acronis True Image 8 on a PC with a Pentium II processor running XP Pro SP2.

I took an image of drive C.

Later I needed to restore the image of drive C and booted the PC from the True Image 8 Boot CD. The machine booted up ok but only the top left quarter of the True Image 'window' was visible - i.e. it filled the whole screen. As soon as I touched the mouse the screen went blank and the PC then automatically rebooted.

True Image 8 works fine on my other machine with an Intel Xeon processor.

Is TI8 incompatible with a Pentium II or is there another reason for the problem? True Image 6 works fine with the PentiumII machine but doesn't have the scheduling and incremental imaging ability which I need.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Best Regards
Rod

Hi Rod,

Could well be a graphics card incompatability. Any chance of temporaraly swapping it for the one in your Xeon machine? That would prove it one way or the other.

Regards

Try to increase your RAM-Size. For me it solved the problem.

Hi Rod,

Just a thought - can you use the 6.0 Rescue CD to restore an 8.0 image?

Hi and thanks to all that have suggested solutions.

Unfortunately I can't swap graphics adapters as they are different interfaces, however I'll try to get hold of another AGP adapter and try it.

Increase RAM, at present it has 384MB and all slots are full.

I'll try using an Acronis 6 disk to restore an Acronis 8 image - hadn't thought of that.

If I find the solution that works for my machine I'll post it here in case anyone else has the same problem.

Once again, many thanks for your time.
Regards
Rod
